That is why it is extremely important to cover the most arrogant and effective criminal schemes in order to save your money. Today we will talk about a popular criminal scheme.
What’s happening?
As often happens, scammers tried to impersonate another person. This time, Google founder Sergey Brin came under their sight. Scammers created their own scheme with YouTube channel, which is allegedly the official channel of Brin. And on this, it is worth noting – quite convincing, the foundation scammers promoted their own criminal schemes. Swindlers convinced subscribers and viewers of the channel that Brin intends to play about 5,000 Bitcoins among all his followers. Of course, a huge amount inspires confidence and in every possible way distracts attention from real facts. For example, to confirm their intentions, scammers launched a live broadcast on which they showed a record of Brin’s old speech. There, the founder of Google really talked about cryptocurrencies, and therefore everything looked quite convincing. But if at least one of the viewers guessed to check exactly when the broadcast took place, it would be much easier to reveal the fraud.

Nevertheless, inattentive subscribers with great pleasure listened to the expert and fulfilled all the requirements from the description of the live broadcast. Fraudsters used an old, but effective scam, which was used on Twitter 2-3 years ago. Scammers offered to send any amount in bitcoins to their accounts in order to get 2 times more. That was exactly how the rally should have been. And about 27 thousand subscribers of the channel trusted these statements. Yes, now this account is blocked, but we can only assume how many people really believed this scheme and really sent their own money to scammers. However, conclusions should be drawn from this.
How not to get into a fraudulent scheme?
There are a number of digital security rules, but we will highlight only the main ones that are relevant to the described case. Follow the recommendations to save your own money and do not fall prey to the criminal scheme. Let’s get a look:

- Look at the channel confirmation. Real accounts of famous personalities are always confirmed, including on YouTube. If there is no checkmark next to the name of the channel, then in front of you is an ordinary fake. Be careful;
- Check the site’s security certificate. Any reliable resource is noted by modern browsers. Look at the address bar, next to the domain should be a picture of a closed lock. If it is not there, leave the site immediately; most likely, scammers have created a copy of a known resource and steal your information;
- Never transfer cryptocurrency in the hope of profit. This also applies to fiat funds. No one will change 1 Bitcoin to 2, this only happens in fairy tales with a sad outcome. Try to double-check all the information and think ahead of the scammers;
