C++ Misuse: Why BTC Mining Disappointed Stroustrup?
C++ programming language creator, a well-known Danish computer scientist, Bjarne Stroustrup expressed his frustration in C++ misuse in connection with BTC mining. In a way it shocked the mining and IT community. Bjarne Stroustrup’s remarks during one of the widely known podcasts, became a thing worth discussing for the community members. The podcast was released on the 7th of November. But people are still discussing what was said there.
Stroustrup shared his thoughts and some insights about the future of C++. He also covered the concepts of the language and its evolution in the nearest future. Stroustrup discussed efficiency and implementations. Here he expressed his frustration of C++ misuse in in connection with BTC mining. He said that it is OK if people use the programming language in a lot of ways. Moreover it is a natural flow of things. But he is disappointed that Satoshi Nakamoto used C++ as a language to write the original code.
Why C++ misuse in connection with BTC mining is such a disappointment
Stroustrup compared the programming language to a tool, which can be used in a lot of ways ant its creator can’t foresee how the tool will be used later on. He also added that he was trying to improve the language he created by looking at how people were using C++ but still he has no control over how this or that language is used, especially now when cryptocurrencies become more and more powerful.
According to Stroustrup, the misuse of C++ is mostly in amount of energy to be consumed for mining and huge possibilities for criminals to act throughout BTC working with C++. The programmer also said that BTC mining with C+ is among the things he would like people stop doing. As it was mentioned below, the reason is illegal activities and huge electricity consumption.
More BTC – less electricity
Though there were attempts to duce electricity consumption, BTC miners still have some issues with it.
