Why Binance’s Account on Weibo is Blocked
Just recently on Binance’s account on Weibo was blocked. It was an official one so its blocking leads to a lot of consequences. The whole case happened on the 13th of November. The reliable sources, however, reported about it in two days. They stated that the reason was violations of the site’s policies
So at the moment the page of Binance on Weibo is blocked. According to the message shown, the account has violated provisions of the Weibo Community Convention. So as a result the content on the page is unavailable as well. There were a lot of attempts to contact Binance for getting some comment. But there’s still no reply from their side at the moment
What rules did Binance’s account violate?
According to the message on the page the blocking reason is the website’s policy violation but there’s no details. However, it is known that Binance is about to launch a new fiat gateway. So technically it can be one of the real reasons. Another one – stringent penalties for the industry in general.
Zhu Hongbing said in his interview that the account was blocked because of Binance’s being about to accept fiat using Alipay and WeChat, Chinese giants. It simply can’t be allowed by no means. Later on Changpeng Zhao confirmed it on the 9th of October. Binance indeed ran the fiat accepting using Alipay and WeChat. A day after, on the 10th of October, Alipay made a statement on the matter. It said that all the transactions, as the ones connected to BTC, will be immediately banned.
Some Are Blocked, Some Still Working
Interesting fact: Tron’s account was also blocked in Weibo with the same standard explanation, while accounts of crypto exchanges are working with no problems. So Binance’s account on Weibo being blocked is not the only case.
Weibo is called a “Chinese twitter” as far it is one of the largest Chinese social platforms. The events happening are somewhat strange as far they announced that soon the government will launch the first steps to the mass adoption of crypto.
